We are an electrical and building contractor based in Redditch, established 2019 and working across the West Midlands. The team specialise in solar, battery storage and EV charging, but that's not the whole story. With years of electrical experience behind us, we work on everything from high-end homes to commercial office fit-outs, and whatever the job needs, our team can handle it.

Reviews

What our customers say

  • We purchased our house with a solar panel system already installed by the previous owner. We were unable to get any help from the company that installed it with battery schematics or updating the user apps with our details. Ben produced the schematics for us then spent many hours ( more than he anticipated) dealing with our system, liaising with the manufacturers and solving a number of problems, registering the system in my name and updating passwords etc. Ben was so helpful, explained what he was doing throughout the process and committed to solving the problems when other engineers would have walked away. I would strongly recommend Ben to anyone who wants a reliable, friendly, professional engineer to install or deal with their solar panel system.

  • Excellent service and work carried out. When my electricity company provider did some work on the smart meter it was connected to, it caused an issue however Impression popped around and fixed it straight away. Amazing many thanks...and great that I now have a dedicated wall charger rather than a long cable plugged into socket on wall. Would recommend for convenience, charging speed and price as I now only pay 7p kw/h. Many thanks to Ben at Impression.

What we do

Solar, EV charging and electrical work, done to one standard

Solar splits into two jobs β€” homes and businesses β€” because they're sized, specced and sold differently. EV, electrical and building sit behind them, so a job that needs more than one trade doesn't need more than one firm.

The proof

What our solar installs actually deliver

Every figure here comes from a job we've done. Follow any of them through to the full story.

150MWh generated to date at Birmingham Business Park (figure updated periodically).

How we work

Survey, options, install.

  1. 01 β€” Survey

We visit the property to look at the layout, the electrical supply and how the space is used. This tells us what's actually needed and what will work, so the quote we give you is based on the property rather than a rough estimate over the phone.

  2. 02 β€” Options

We put together a few designs for you to choose from, and we talk you through each one β€” what it involves, what it costs, and which we'd recommend and why. You choose the one that suits your needs and budget.

  3. 03 β€” Install

Our team carries out the installation, tidies up as they go, tests and commissions everything, and hands over all the relevant certificates and paperwork. If you have questions or need anything afterwards, you can come back to us.

Ben Sullivan, Director of Impression Electrical & Building

From Ben

β€œI started out as an electrician, and that’s still how I think about every job we take on. Solar, EV charging, a full building project, it’s all electrical work at heart. We’re based here in Redditch, we’ve been going since 2019, and most of our work still comes from people who’ve used us before, or their neighbours. What matters to me is a job that still works properly in ten years, not just on the day we hand it over. We’ll spec the kit that’s right for your property, not whatever’s cheapest to fit. It’s why people tend to see us as a more premium option than a lot of other electrical firms round here.”

Common questions

Where is Impression Electrical & Building based, and how far do you travel?

We're based in Redditch, and cover 20–25 miles from there β€” Bromsgrove, Solihull, Alvechurch, Stratford-upon-Avon and the surrounding towns. We travel further for commercial solar.

Do you do both residential and commercial work?

Yes. We install premium residential solar, battery storage and EV charging, and we run commercial solar projects up to 50kW and beyond. Our Birmingham Business Park job was a 300-panel, 50kW commercial system.

Do you handle both the electrical and the building work?

Yes. Electrical and building sit under one roof at IEB, so a job that needs both β€” a rewire and the making-good, or solar plus structural work β€” doesn't need two firms and two schedules.

Can you repair a solar system someone else installed?

Yes. Solar repair and servicing is underserved β€” most installers only want new work. We take on existing systems, whoever fitted them, and it's how one customer found us and left a five-star Google review.

Are you qualified and insured?

Yes. We hold multiple City & Guilds qualifications, carry more than 20 years of collective experience across the team, and are fully insured for domestic and commercial work.

Can I add battery storage to a solar system that's already installed?

Often, yes. We regularly help people add or reconfigure battery storage on existing systems, including ones we didn't originally fit β€” it depends on the inverter and equipment already in place, which we check at survey.

Do you install EV charging for workplaces as well as homes?

Yes. We fit home chargers and workplace charging, sized to how many bays you need now and how many you're likely to want later.

Do you carry out EICRs and electrical safety checks?

Yes. An EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) is a documented check of a property's wiring, required for rented homes and sensible before buying or selling. We carry them out for landlords and homeowners.

What happens after I send an enquiry?

We survey the property first, then come back with costed design options rather than a single quote, and talk you through which we'd recommend and why. You choose what suits your budget before anything's booked in.

Do you take on rewires and general electrical work, not just solar and EV?

Yes. Rewires, consumer units, fault-finding and additional circuits are core work for us, not something we fit around bigger installs.

Can you work on period or listed properties?

Yes. Older and listed buildings need a more careful approach β€” discreet cable routing, checking what consent a job needs, and mounting that suits the roof or walls β€” which we factor in at survey rather than treating every property the same.

Do you take on office or commercial building refurbishment?

Yes. Office fit-outs and building refurbishment are part of what we do, usually alongside the electrical work the space needs, so both sides are handled by one team.

How do you decide what size solar system I need?

It comes down to your usable roof space and orientation, and how much electricity your household uses and when. We size the array and any battery to that, rather than fitting the largest system that will physically fit.

Tell us about the job

Send us the details and we'll come back with a straight answer β€” usually within one working day.
